Carol's Personal Skin Care Tip of the Month!

Hello all from Baltimore Cosmetic Laser Center!  Summer's here so I figured I could give a few tips on how to stay wrinkle free and looking young for years to come!  First, come get some Laser skin rejuvenation haha!  Next, get your basic skin care items together and take a look at how many you own.  Looks like a lot huh?  Well here?s what you?ll need; a good moisturizer,  a sunscreen with an spf ABOVE 30 (notice the capital letters!), and a big bottle of water.

The moisturizer you choose should be water based for oily skin (those with dryer skin can use non-water based lubricants as long as you feel them affecting your skin positively) and applied at least twice a day, once in the morning and before bed.  Some of my favorites that we new carry at the center and have had the best results with are made by Neova, Artistry and Obagi.   These are specifically made for skin therapy treatment and have been tested for use on damaged skin.   The beginning middle and last words on skin care will always be; Moisturize Moisturize, and Moisturize!

Being out in the sun is fun, and I love having some color in my skin just as much as the next gal, but it?s the fastest way to destroy skin cells and cause PERMENENT damage!  If you can?t live without getting a little bit of sunshine, wear spf 30 at all times.  It is to be applied 20 minutes before entering the sun, and every 20 minutes after.  With all of the advances in tanning creams and bronzers, you can get a rub or spray on tan that looks natural and can save you later on down the road.  All of you young girls out there take notes, you may feel tan and beautiful now, but you could be looking at some serious payback from your skin in the not too distant future.

Now that we have established some sort of defense routine for your skin, focus on what you?re drinking.  If it?s a margarita in your hand right now, add some more ice because H2O is your best friend for skin maintenance.  Considering that the majority of your body including your skin is made up of water, keeping those cells properly hydrated is extremely important in allowing the proper nutrients to reach you dermis.  Eight, eight ounce glasses of water a day should keep you up and running ?that would be about five and a half 12oz bottled waters.

Keep in mind that we offer free skin analysis consults if you?re worried about anything or have any questions!
